Writing on the Wall: Dilli Haat’s brush with Street Art

Delhi Tourism in collaboration with Austrian Cultural Forum, Austrian Embassy, New Delhi presents an exhibition of the works of Jeremias Altmann, an Austrian artist renowned for drawing, printmaking and wall painting, at Dilli Haat INA Market, on view till December 15, 2016.

Street Art is the new buzz word. Worldwide, it has become a very conspicuous medium for conveying messages on social, environmental, peace and other relevant issues of day to day life. Indeed, in recent times it has come as a handy tool to enliven and add colour and more, to the Capital’s otherwise drab and much abused walls!

Artist Jeremias Altmann is creating a wall painting near the amphitheatre at Dilli Haat, INA, the hub of all cultural activities. He is also showcasing his creations, made early this year during his stay in Delhi. Through his sketches, paintings, printmaking he has tried to bring art to the common man and inculcate appreciation. Commissioned by the city of Vienna, Altmann has done a series of wall paintings and graffiti and participated in exhibitions in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Serbia, France, Greece, China and Canada. This exhibition provides him an opportunity to communicate with the daily guests visiting this popular cultural hub.

The exhibition gets over on December 15, 2016.
