Radhika Apte’s psychological thriller, Phobia piqued everyone’s curiosity when the film’s first look and trailer was released. The film deals with agoraphobia, extreme or irrational fear of open or public places. Radhika plays the role of a liberal artist whose personality undergoes a change after an incident in her life.

“’I did a lot of research and watched many videos on YouTube regarding the panic attack. I spoke to psychologists and so many doctors to know how their patients react and behave, said Radhika during a promotion drive in Delhi.

Radhika gained popularity and was commended for her performances in films such as Hunter, Shor in the City, Manjhi: The Mountain Man and her short film Ahalya. Talking about Phobia, Radhika says “the film isn’t scary but is entertaining.”

About casting Radhika for the role, director Pawan Kripalani says, “I wanted to cast someone who is strong and could act naturally without dramatizing it much and there can’t be a better actress than her. She is just perfect for the role as if the film and the topic was made for her only.”

So will Radhika like to do the same kind of films in future too? “I do not care about repeating a genre as long as the character is influencing,” she said.

Catch the movie on May 27.
