If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris…, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you for Paris is a moveable feast.

– Ernest Hemingway

Sipra Dattagupta brings alive the magic of the city with her vivid and eye-catching portrayals of the iconic Moulin Rouge, the quaint artists’ village of Montmartre “where the voice of Edith Piaf echoes in Au Lapin Agile”, Rouen with its cathedral, The D Day landing beaches and the poppies in the Flanders Fields, Arles in Provence, “full of the warm south” where the café painted by Van Gogh still stands and the fairy tale-like fort of Carcassone with its 53 watch towers and a formidable double walled fortification. Dattagupta with her eye for detail brilliantly captures the rhythm, the character and atmosphere of the city. She paints from the heart and it shows in her vivid canvas.

Catch the exhibition before it closes on December 18. On view at the Art Gallery, Kamaladevi Complex, Gate no: 1, India International Centre, 40 Max Mueller Marg, New Delhi.
